Full Description
A cropmark interpreted as an extractive pit of Medieval/post-Medieval date was visible in Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 14-AUG-2003. The cropmark was very faintly expressed in that imagery and no corresponding archaeological feature was observed at this location in the Thanet Earth excavations carried out in 2007-8 (EKE14749). There are numerous Medieval/post-Medieval extractive pits in the environs, but this feature could also have been a relict patch of superficial deposit or thicker soil deposit over the chalk bedrock. This feature was mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (1)
