Full Description
A hut and structures forming a military installation of Second World War date were visible as structures in RAF/HLA/564 V 6029 01-JUN-1942. They were positioned immediatley to the north of a fighter pen (MKE125159) in the south-east corner of the airfield, presumably servicing the air- and ground-crew working in this area of RAF Manston. They were removed during the construction of RAF Manston's crash runway in 1943-44.
These features were recorded as demolished structures in Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021 and were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (1-2)
