Full Description

A barracks of Second World War date were visible as structures in RAF/HLA/407 V 78 28-FEB-1942. They were described as 'Mens Quarters' on a plan of RAF Manston dated 7 April 1930 (RAF Museum, Hendon, reference MFC/78/24/0883).

By the time of a mid-20th century plan (RAF Museum, Hendon, reference X004/2380) these huts were the 'RAF Education Centre', 'American Express', 'PX', Personnel Services - Library', 'Laundry - Beer Parlour' and the 'Commissary'.

They were recorded as demolished buildings in Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021. They were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (1-2)
