Full Description
Cropmarks of a large ring ditch, probably a Bronze Age barrow visible on aerial photographs: NMR 2176/046 03-AUG-1984 and CUCAP YH22 16-JUN-1959 which has been mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. The site appeared as an incomplete ring ditch with a diameter of 35m. A more complete transcription of this site was mapped as part of the RCHME Kent NMP project undertaken in the late 1990s, but this project had access to Cambridge University (CUCAP) aerial photographs currently unavailable for this most recent (2024) survey. This site now lies beneath housing to the west of Hartsdown Academy and is presumed destroyed. (1-2)
