Full Description
A 2017 excavation at the site identified further features dating from the early medieval and medieval periods. These included an early medieval sunken featured building, post holes and a ditch.
The sunken featured building was located to the east of the site and was estimated to measure around 5.56m long, 5.51m wide and 0.36m deep. An environmental sample from the SFB contained oak charcoal. Three post-holes were cut into the base of the structure.
A curvilinear ditch and a possible recut measured 0.86-1.25m wide and 0.34-0.55m deep. The ditch appeared to enclose the sunken featured building.
Later features at the site included ditches and pits dating from the medieval period (TQ 95 SW 156) and a post-medieval boundary ditch (TQ 95 SW 166). (1)
