During the archaeological investigation of the land north of Cottington Road ahead of the redevelopment of the site, a variety of archaeological features finds and deposits were recorded. They included a series of later prehistoric ditches, possibly forming part of a field system. These consisted primarily of a number of east west orientated linear features as well as a penannular-shaped Early-Mid Iron Age enclosure. The ditches were associated with a number of discrete features including pits and post holes towards the southern end of the site. the penannular enclosure contained on of two prehistoric cremations on the site, north of Cottington Road. The other cremation lay within the northwest corner of the site and appears to be of a similar period. A natural vally/hollow appears to form the eastern edge or boundary for the field systems, and they in turn, may be associated with the soil horizon within the hollow being worked/cultivated.
