Full Description

During an archaeological evaluation carried out ahead of the redevelopment of a site of Monton Road in Minster, Thanet, a small number of archaeological features, including pits and linear fetaures were uncovered. The fills of these features containe worked/struck flint and pottery which may be dated to the later prehistoric period, possibly the Bronze Age to earliest Iron Age.

A total of ten identifiable archaeological features were present and appeared within trenches 2, 3, 4 and 7. In trench 2, the archaeological features comprise a narrow linear feature and a ditch within
the centre of the trench, dated by three small fragments, flint tempered, likely Later Prehistoric pottery sherds (1550-50 BC/50 AD). In trench 3 there was a segmented linear feature and two linear features within the centre of the trench, dated by pottery to the Middle Bronze Age to the Early to Mid Iron Age (1550-350 BC) and a ditch truncating a pit occurred at the east end of the trench. A ditch and a pit were encountered at the east end of trench 4. Archaeological features within Trench 7 comprised two linear features and another feature at the northwest end. Pottery sherds dated to the Middle to Mid to Late Bronze Age (1550-1150 BC) were found in the fills. (information summarised from source)
