Full Description
Mill pond, visible on 1st and 2nd edition OS map. Recorded during 2024 Kent Downs National Landscape Historic Ponds project.
Preservation:Whole pond clearly visible on current OS/LIDAR

Site type: Mill pond
Description: Very large pond close to Fairlawne and a second pond below, with a corn mill marked on the 1st edition map. Also seen on 2nd edition, modern OS and 1m LiDAR, plus aerial photography.

The pond is one of a series of large ponds associated with a corn mill at the site. These features are labelled as 'fish pond' after the mill went out of use, however, they may have originally been used to power the mill. (2, 3)
