A programme of archaeological investigation in 2017/2018 found a small late iron age or early Romano-British settlement. The features consisted of a small circular building of c. 6.6 m diameter which was accompanied by signs of small-scale iron smelting.

The features consisted of a small circular building of c. 6.6 m diameter which was accompanied by signs of small-scale iron smelting. Finds consisted of hearth lining and slag and a small pottery assemblage (1)
