Full Description

Cropmarks of an incomplete cruvilinear ditched enclosure and pits possibly of Iron Age date at TR 3937 6648 visible on aerial photographs. The possible enclosure appears as a perpendicular ditched feature describing an elongated arc with breaks or interruptions representing part of the western (27m) and northern (24m) sides linked by a smooth curving corner. Within this a number of possible pits could be seen as cropmarks .These features were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the Historic England: Ramsgate HAZ project. (1) Excavations in the area suggest the presence of an Iron Age settlement and inhumations, possibly part of the same site (2)
