Full Description

During a trial trenching evaluation carried out in 1992 a series of ditches and gullies believed to indicate a field system was discovered. Artefacts, including 532 fragments of pottery, suggested a late Iron Age / Roman date though most of the finds dated to c. AD 75 - 125. Some of the finds included building material suggesting structures lay close by. Some of the pottery had pitch seal attached suggesting traded goods. The features seem to have been deliberately backfilled in the early 2nd century.
