Full Description
Prehistoric features and artefacts were excavated at land North of Thanet Way, Whitstable during an evaluation in 2017. The features included pits, sub-circular, and linear features.
Artefacts recovered from the site includes Late Bronze Age to Iron Age flint-tempered pottery, fire-cracked, and worked flint. Environmental sampling of one of the pits identified hulled barley grain.
The worked flint assemblage was largely chronologically undiagnostic and could therefore date anywhere between the Mesolithic to Early Iron Age period. An endscraper, flakes, and a core were dated to the Early Bronze Age period. (1)
