Full Description
A possible prehistoric ditch was identified at Queenborough Road, Isle of Sheppey during an evaluation in 2022. The ditch had a U-shaped profile, and had a fill of silty clay which contained a single struck flint interpreted as probable Mesolithic or Neolithic in date.
However, a medieval ditch was identified in close proximity to this feature, leading to the interpretation by the authors of the report that the feature could date to the medieval period and that the flake of struck flint could be residual within its fill. (1)
