Summary

A Bronze Age ditch was identified during an evaluation carried out at 87 London Road, Sittingbourne by the Swale and Thames Archaeological Survey Company in 2014. The feature may have formed part of a Bronze Age field system at the site.

Full Description

A Bronze Age ditch was identified during an evaluation carried out at 87 London Road, Sittingbourne by the Swale and Thames Archaeological Survey Company in 2014. The ditch was aligned NE-SW and measured 2.27m in length, 0.50m in width, and 0.12m in depth. Artefacts recovered from the fill of the feature comprised struck flint, sherds of Mid to Late Mid Bronze Age flint tempered pottery.

Another artefact recovered from the same trench comprised a piece of daub or kiln material measuring 0.06m in diameter. However, no cut for an associated feature was identified. (1)
