The earthwork remains of two adjacent elongated oval mounds measuring 10m x 27m and 10m x 22m, probably an examples of a 19th century or earlier stock refuge mounds constructed on low-lying pasture within the marshlands of the Hoo Peninsula and the margins of the Thames Estuary. These were mapped Environment Agency lidar imagery from 2001 as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.

Full Description

The earthwork remains of two adjacent elongated oval mounds measuring 10m x 27m and 10m x 22m at TQ 7478 7667 in an are of former marsh known as Ryestreet common. These are probably an examples of a 19th century or earlier stock refuge mounds constructed on low-lying pasture within the marshlands of the Hoo Peninsula and the margins of the Thames Estuary. These were mapped Environment Agency lidar imagery from 2001 as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. (1-2)
