Full Description
The earthwork remains of a small oval mound centred at TQ 7118 7495, measuring 14m x 8m. This is thought to be an example of the stock refuge mounds constructed in the 19th century or earlier on low-lying pasture within the marshlands of the Hoo Peninsula and the margins of the Thames Estuary. These mounds have been referred to and identified in a contemporary paper on the subject (Spurrell, 1885).
This site was mapped from aerial photographs taken in 1947 as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. (1-2)
