[TQ 61295209] So-called Fire Holes found. One contained rough pottery and stone implement, 1899.(1) Wimlet Hill nr Shipbourne - Pre-Roman urns in fire holes. Mr. B. Harrison 1889. Puttenden Farm nr to Shipbourne and Dunks Green; Mr White in draining the land continually came upon fire-holes (so called); one only contained anything, viz.:, rough pottery and a stone implement. Mr. Shrivell : 6th August, 1889. (2) The evidence of siting [by authority 1] is not known. The location should be considered approximate only. Mr. Fisher is dead and the disposal of the finds is not known. (3) No further information on this site was obtained nor any evidence of subsequent finds encountered. The name Wimlet Hill is not locally known. The siting given by authority 1 occurs in a pasture field on a gentle eastern slope.(4)
