Full Description
The earthwork remains of a small oval mound measuring c.8m x 10.5m seen at TQ 8531 7763. This is probably an example of a 19th century or earlier stock refuge mound constructed on low-lying pasture within the marshlands of the Hoo Peninsula and the margins of the Thames Estuary. These mounds have been referred to and identified in contemporary writings (Spurrell, 1885).These were mapped from Environment Agency lidar imagery as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
