Full Description
The earthwork of a small oval mound, possibly a post medieval livestock refuge mound, is visible on aerial photographs taken in 2007. This mound is the only mound situated within a field on Hoo marshes west of Kingsnorth power station and is centred at TQ 8013 7192. Refuge mounds provided an area of high ground for livestock to occupy in the event of a flood and numerous refuge mounds were built on the marshes of the Hoo Peninsula. This was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(1)
