Summary

The small earthwork of a possible circular enclosure can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 2007. This earthwork is situated on Bishop Saltings and may be a small post medieval livestock enclosure (enclosing an area circa 6m across). It is depicted on the 1895 Ordnance Survey Map. This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.

Full Description

The earthwork of a Second World War bomb crater is visible on an aerial photograph taken in 1946. This crater, since levelled, was situated at Kingsnorth at TQ 8121 7298. The crater, first visible on aerial photographs taken in May 1942, was to the south of the Berry Wiggins oil refinery which was probably the intended target. This earthwork was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(1-3)
