Full Description
The cropmark remains of two incomplete conjoined rectilinear ditch-defined enclosures of uncertain date seen at TQ 8149 7822 and mapped from aerial photographs taken by English Heritage in June 2011. The western enclosure measures c.12m x 7.5m, possibly with an entrance in its southern side. The second enclosure is attached as an annex to the eastern side and is defined by a broader ditch forming the northern and eastern sides. This measures 7m across. Within this is the cropmark trace of a large circular pit with a diameter of 3.7m.
This site and a number of other fragmented cropmarks including ditches and two ring ditches were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(1)
