Full Description
A Middle - Late Iron Age ditch was identified during an evaluation carried out at Quarry Wood, Aldington in 2015 ahead of residential development works. The ditch measured 6m+ in length, 1-1.50m in width, and 0.30-0.49m in depth. Its fills contained Mid-Late Iron Age pottery fragments, fire cracked flint, animal bone, pot boilers, and small fragments of burnt clay and daub. The quantity of artefacts recovered from the fill of the ditch indicates the presence of a possible Iron Age settlement in the vicinity of the site. (1)
