Summary

A jam factory is visible on the 2nd edition OS map (1897-1900) with an associated tramway (TQ 64 NW 361). The site is labelled as 'Mid Kent Jam factory' on the 2nd edition OS map, and as 'Crystalate Factory' on the 3rd and 4th edition OS maps. During the restoration of a historic pond in the vicinity of the site, a large number of jam jars from the factory were recovered from the fill of the feature, suggesting that rubbish had been dumped in the pond after the factory went out of use.

A jam factory is visible on the 2nd edition OS map (1897-1900) with an associated tramway (TQ 64 NW 361). During the restoration of a historic pond in the vicinity of the site, a large number of jam jars from the factory were recovered from the fill of the feature, suggesting that rubbish from the factory had been dumped in the pond after the factory went out of use.
