Monument record TR 26 NE 162 - Iron Age and Romano-British occupation site, Potten St
Summary
A mid-Iron Age occupation site and an early Roman wall were found during work in advance of a road development. A circular feature of worn flint pebbles was found covered by a midden that included mid-Iron Age pottery sherds. Four pits were also found and these contained early Iron Age, late Iron Age (Belgic) and Roman pottery sherds and fragments of daub. One of the pits was cut by a wall foundation of early Roman date. Further roman features were suspected but were thought to have been removed by ploughing.
