During a watching brief in 1995 on foundation trenches for the new bungalow, 17a Cross Road, a pit was found which contained struck and burnt flints, marine shells (limpets), animals bones, two bone pins, a sandstone rubber and Grooved Ware pottery of Late Neolithic date. The pottery fragments could be refitted and represent parts of three separate vessels. The pit measured 0.68m in diameter and was 0.46m deep with steep vertical sides and a slightly dished base. (1)
