Roman site of 1st-2nd century identified by Upchurch Arch Group, possibly associated with salt/pottery manufacture (1). Early-mid 1st century ditch, postholes and salt winning debris. At c1m below the 1st century horizon is a peat formation with alluvium in between. Also a substantial scatter of 1st to 2nd century pottery on adjoining mudflats (2). Site photographs (3-5).
Formerly recorded as TQ 87 SW 30, this site had was given a new smr number as it duplicated the number of an smr/nmr record.
