Monument record TR 26 SE 39 - Early medieval ditch, dress fastener and plough mark, Sarre

Summary

The degenerated remains of a ditch were observed at the Anglo-saxon burial ground during work to improve the drainage of Sarre. The ditch was cut into the natural chalk to a depth of about 7cm and beside this was a shallow plough mark. Within the ditch was found a silver dress fastener dating to the Saxon period. The date of the plough marks was not determined.
