Full Description
A sunken featured building was discovered with a post hole at the centre of each end. Although cut into a 1 in 13 slope the floor was level.. The hut floor measured 4.4m by 3.12m and was 0.60m deep. The post holes were c.40m in diameter and tapered to a depth of 0.80m No trace of an occupation layer was found over the floor. A section through the fill of the hut suggested a staged infill, perhaps by sporadic dumping. The infill contained animal bone, shells and large fragments of RB tile and worn pot sherds in IA Belgic fabrics. An iron buckle of typical Jutish form was found on the hut floor. 2 shallow ditches were located, 1 contained no finds, the other yielded C16 and 17 pot sherds, a Jetton token and a Rose farthing of Charles I.
