Monument record TR 03 SE 30 - Medieval Field System and Possible Building Platform, Burmarsh
Summary
Field divided into 8 enclosures of varying size and shape, by earthwork ditches. These are remnants of the extensive medieval field system. A mound is located next to the N. field boundary and situated within a small elongated ditched enclosure. It is probably the site of an early building, either a simple dwelling or a barn, possibly contemporary with the field system. The small size of the plots and the unity of the system suggests an early date. Pottery from a similarly situated, but now ploughed, field 0.5 km to the west dates from the twelth century
