Geophysical survey suggested that there was good potential for archaeological features in the area. (1)

Ahead of the Gillingham Northern Link Road being built, a series of evaluation trenches were dug along the route in late 1995 and early 1996 by South Eastern Archaeological Services. Two Roman features were found; a ditch and a large oval feature that could be a pond. Both produced sherds of Roman pottery. The low quantities of finds within the features suggests that the associated settlement does not lie in the immediate vicinity. (2)

Work to reconstruct the environmental conditions. (3)
