Full Description
A raised bank was trenched and revealed to be components of the Rhee Wall postulated to be the remains of a canal or sea wall of possible 13th C date which runs for over seven and a half miles. A Medieval/Post-Medieval drainage ditch was also revealed, a relict extension of extant surface field drains. (1)
Watching brief on Rhee wall. Information recovered was limited but did support the Wessex Archaeology report's conclusion that the wall appeared to be constructed simply of irregualr deposits of locally available silty clays and possibly sands.(2)
