Summary
The remains of a Romano British settlement were found during work to improve the Thanet Way. An amphora was identifed as the remains of a cremation burial. A 20m length of v-shaped ditch was also found, as well as five rubbish pits up to 4m in diameter, a well shaft 5m in depth and and a small foundation of rammed chalk. Amongst the small finds were numerous Samian pottery sherds, fragments of glassware, metalwork, querns and building materials as well as midden materials and some human skeletal material.
