Full Description
Type 24. to provide flanking fire along the beaches and to protect road from beach. Excellent condition. A good candidate for statutory protection as a conveniently visible example of a pillbox from the GHQ line. Foreshore, Lower Upnor, opposite Arethusa Centre. (1). Site photographs (2-8). Seen in 2004, the pillbox is set in the modern concrete promenade by the road. Structurally intact. (9)

A good candidate for statutory protection as a conveniently visible example of a pillbox from the GHQ line. On the foreshore, Lower Upnor, opposite 'Arethusa'. By side of the road opposite 'Arethusa' offices, Lower Upnor. (1)
This pillbox acan be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1942 and was mapped from them as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(9)
