Summary

Full Description

Hard way from land to Grain Tower. Poor condition (1).

Site photographs (2-8).

Causeway or 'hard' linking the Isle of Grain and Grain Tower (TQ 87 NE 7). Constructed of interlocking concrete blocks laid between timber edging. The original access to the Tower was slightly further north via a track following an angled course. The causeway was moved to its present position before 1889, though the structure which survives today may be a later rebuild, possibly dating to 1915. This causeway also provided access to a boom laid between the Tower and Sheerness in 1911. [9].
