In November 1993 an evaluation was carried out on the site of a new school development. In some of the trenches dug fragments of prehistoric flint (both fire cracked and worked), pottery and daub were found. In one trench a possible circular feature was found with flint inclusions although no archaeological finds were found in association.(1)

Later in November a watching brief on the building work by Trust for Thanet Archaeology discovered a bowl-shaped pit (0.4m dia and 0.32m deep), the fill being chalky silt with pockets of brickearth. Finds included white patinated waste flakes, mussel and oyster shells, and three small prehistoric (indeterminate date) fragments of flint-tempered pottery. (2)
