Summary

A chalk pit near Buddles Farm. It is marked as 'Wine Acre' chalk pit on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition map of c.1858-1873. Named 'Old Chalk Pit' on the 2nd edition of c.1891-1898, and visible but not named on the 3rd edition map (c.1905-1922). It is once again marked as 'Chalk Pit' on the 4th edition map.

Full Description

Boundary marked as 'Wine Acre' on OS 6" 1st ed (1872). Named 'Old Chalk Pit' on 2nd ed (1899). Marked, but not named on 3rd ed (1908). (1)

A post medieval chalk pit and spoil heaps are visible as earthworks on RAF/541/152 RS 4033 04-SEP-1948. The features have been levelled on the latest Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021. The features were mapped as part of the Thanet Landscape Mapping project. (2-3)
