Monument record TQ 77 NE 40 - Prehistoric pit off Christmas Lane, High Halstow

Summary

A small prehistoric pit was found during an evaluation by the Canterbury Archaeological Trust. The pit appeared to have a clay seal lining and its backfill contained flint pot boilers. There was no pottery and so the date is derived from the presence of the pot boilers. Pottery from a 1997 excavation in the same general area suggests that the pit may be Iron Age or Bronze Age.
