Full Description
Cropmarks relating to a field system were observed in aerial photographs. (1 and 2)
In 1997 the area was subjected to an evaluation ahead of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link construction. Eight ditches dating from the Late Iron Age/early Roman period through to the early 3rd century were found. The ditches appeared to form a system of rectangular shaped fields. A pit, a post hole and some evidence of buildings in the form of brick, tile and daub were also found. (3)
