Monument record TQ 75 NW 137 - Bradbourne Fields, Early Romano-British Site
Summary
During trial trenching a number of ditch, pit and gullies were found of a Late Iron Age-Early Roman possible farmstead dating from the ealry 1C to the late 2ndC. The site covers an area approximately 150m n-s by 120m e-w. Whether occupation continued into the later Roman period is unclear.(3)
Top-soil stripping, cleaning and recording of area for housing development in 1997. A large number of archaeological features were recovered consisting of pits, ditches and post-holes. Also a gravel trackway, stone structure and cremaiton burial were also found.
