Full Description
Three phases of wall fragments were found in a test pit, part of an evaluation for the Boley Hill repaving project. The northernmost is probably 18th or 19th century in date. Next to it, a thin wall was observed, interpreted as the lining of a pit, cess pit? This wall sat on the remains of another wall capable of supporting timber framing, of possible 16th century date or later. As with the findings of other parts of the repaving project, this test pit showed that up until the 20th century the roads around Boley Hill were much narrower (1,2).
