Full Description

During work in 1998 on the Folkeston & Dover Wastewater Scheme a number of apparently medieval features were found. The first was a rectangular pit containing clay daub, with some wattle impressions, but no datable features although is mostly likely of medieval date as it is cut by a sub-circular pit containing medieval domestic rubbish and finds. To the south of these pits was another pit or possible well shaft. Its lower filing contained medieval pottery ranging in date from 1075 - 1125. (1-2).
