Full Description

The second phase of evaluation trenching at this site has succeeded in providing further details of the ancient landscape on the coastal plain and the archaeology of the site. The remains of several post-medieval buildings were located and earlier features were found to have survived the construction of these buildings.

With regard to the more ancient archaeological deposits on the site, the approximate boundary of the wind-blown sand deposits was established. Further, probably prehistoric, features have bene revealed on the site, cutting in to the natural brickearth. These include three shallow gullies, two pits and an isolated post-hole (1).
