Full Description
A series of 19 evaluation trenches dug around the former Marine South Barracks. Along with trenches relating to demolished Barrack buildings (TR 35 SE 413) and ditches and gullies relating to field systems prior to the barracks (TR 35 SE 411) there seems to be evidence of casual use of the site during the LBA-EIA. Eight pits were found none of which produced any significant quanitites of databale material although one did contain desposits clearly representing dumped hearth debris dated by RC dating to the LBA-EIA (2630+-120 BP). The pit itself was cut by an undated ditch(1)
