Full Description
Five trenches were excavated across the site and revealed a series of medieval and post-medieval features. These consisted of pits, gullies, post-holes and possibly the tail of the eastern rampart of the town wall. Pottery dated the activity on the site from the 11th century onwards, except for a gap during the 13th and 14th centuries which may imply a lack of activity in this period across the site. (1)
