Full Description
Two features of Late Bronze Age or very early Iron Age date were found during an evaluation at the site of a new Park & Ride car park on New Dover Road, 2000. One pit is believed to be a clay quarry and contained complete and crushed pot-boilers and a few pieces of scrappy pottery dateable to the Late Bronze Age. The other feature, also a pit, appeared to contain several deposits containing charcoal in varying quantities. The ash was cold when it was put into the pit as there was no sign of burning around the sides of the feature. (1)
The features were excavated from two different trenches. (2)
