Full Description

An evaluation was carried out in July 2000 to the rear of No.'s 7, 8 and 9 High Street, Eastry. Seven features were found, all believed to date from the medieval and post-medieval periods (1).

Due to significant archaeological remains found earlier a follow up excavation took place in August. Two arms of a substantial V-shaped ditch part of an rectangularenclosure dating to the late Med/Post Med period was found. The fill porduced a number of finds including, pottery sherds, animal skeletons, marine shells, peg-tile and brick Evidence of earlier activity has also been found in the area.
