Full Description
Late medieval ditch discovered during an excavation by Canterbury Archaeological Trust at land to the rear of Prospect House, Fairfield Road, New Romney, Kent, 2001. The ditch ran east-west across the site and varied in width from 41cm at its eastern end to over 1.2m in the centre. The base was beyond the depth of the foundation trenchesthougha portion of the sides was recorded showing they gradually sloped inwards at 45 degrees. Material recovered was found to date between c. 1275 &1375. (1)
