Full Description
WW2 Type 28 concrete anti-tank pillbox at the foot of Horseshoe Bastion. Rectangular in shape it covers the road leading up from Langdon Bay. There are recesses in the embrasure to take the mounting of a 2pdr AT gun and a square block below the embrasure.(1)
The pill-box was probably constructed in c.1940 adjacent to the road on the east side of the castle to help counter potential German invasion. It is clearly visible and is only covered by light scrub. It
appears to be in relatively good condition. (2)
