Heavy AA battery of 4 x 3.7" guns first mentioned 1942 and probably for the general defence of Dover and locally the Wanstone coastal battery (TR 34 SE 145) and the Swingate CH Station (TR 34 Sw 452). There is no mention of it after 1946. In 1999 the site was over grown and only the concrete gun pits and command building remain (1)

WWII Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942, 1945 and 1946 [2, 3, 4 and 5], located in South Foreland. The battery measured 215m x 185m. Much of this site is visible on modern OS mapping, thus the elements already present on the mapping have not been re-mapped by the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey. Towards the S were gun emplacements and external banking measuring 85m x 60m. Present in the N were three structures, one banked feature that may have been a gun emplacement with associated small structures, four ditched features and a ditch with flanking banks which ran for 100m. The site was located directly adjacent to Wanstone Battery (MKe17934 and Mke41971); this anti-aircraft battery may have served to protect the cross-channel battery. The HAA was separated from the cross-channel battery by two lengths of barbed wire, one towards the E and one to the W, each measuring 100m.
