"V" shaped curved ditch interpreted as part of a rectangular enclosure ditch. The V-shaped profile suggests that this may be a palisade trench, although evidence of postholes has been found. Prehistoric struck flints suggest a prehistoric date. It is likley that the enclosure survives elsewhere at the site, probably beneath the school playgrouynd and possibly beneath the existing classroom blocks. There was no indications of burial or structures associated with the enclosure though there may be some surviving elsewhere in the unexcavated areas. There is no evidence for a continuation of the enclosure iunto area 2 to the south, suggesting that it was relatively small in size. It is possible that the enclosure was related to the ditch and post hole also dicovered at this site, which have been assigned a Bronze Age date(1)
